July craziness

And that's an understatement. As I mentioned in my last post, my college roommate was supposed to come visit on July 3rd. Well she did visit, and we had an awesome time together. She's a biology major and her hobby is photography. Being studious she decided to combine the two, and so she came up so that we could go to the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere and she could take pictures of the animals. She came up on Monday evening and we spent the night roaming around downtown and wasting time. We got an early start on Tuesday and were at the zoo by nine when they opened. She left and was back in Chattanooga by four that afternoon.

After my trip to the zoo my parents and I headed to the Hamilton Creek sailboat marina where we're members of the Percy Priest Yacht Club. It's really more of a sailing club. Nashville Shores is a water park and marina on the shore of the lake up near the dam, and every year they have a big fireworks show on the 3rd. PPYC had a dock party and cookout and then all of the boats motored over to watch the fireworks. We ended up on a Catalina 27 that didn't have any sails, but we were on the water with good company so all was well. Thanks again for a great time Russell. Finally, on the fourth, I went to a family cookout and pool party. Somewhere between swimming, entertaining my five year old cousin, and telling stories about my semester in Wales a good time was had.

Overall the third and the fourth were a bit busy, but that's how I take my days. I was expecting those two days to be the highlight of July for me, but it appears that I may have been mistaken. I'll save those (mis)adventures for another post.

Here is a picture of Caladesi (Cali) my two year golden retriever cowering in my dad's camp chair at the Franklin fireworks on the night of the fourth. She sat with her back to the fireworks most of the night which made this shot difficult to get.

Happy belated 4th of July everyone! I hope it was good.
